Constantine zlabia with rose water
Instructions
- Prepare a dough using flour, baking powder and rose water, then leave to rest for 1 hour.
- Shape the zlabias into spirals or S shapes, then fry until golden brown.
- Prepare a syrup using sugar, water, lemon juice and rose water, boiling until thickened.
- Soak the hot zlabias in the flavoured syrup.
- Allow to cool completely before serving as a dessert, often accompanied by mint tea for a traditional Algerian taste experience.
